Richland County will celebrate the 2019 “Earth Stewardship Celebration” during the Great American Cleanup months of April, May and June.  The Richland County Solid Waste Authority is an active member of the Earth Stewardship Celebration Steering Committee, which consists of a group of agencies located within Richland County, who join each year in a partnership to sponsor an Earth Stewardship Celebration for our community.  The 23rd Annual Earth Stewardship Celebration officially started at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2019 with a “Kick-Off” event at Richland Public Health, Corely Room, 555 Lexington Avenue in Mansfield, Ohio.  Elected and other Public Officials joined members of the Earth Stewardship Steering Committee to officially proclaim April, May and June as Earth Stewardship Months in Mansfield and Richland County.  The Richland County Solid Waste Management Authority has supplies to help promote our local efforts to pick up roadside litter.  Groups and individuals are encouraged to join in a roadside litter collection event during the months of April, May and June.  For more information you can contact the Richland County Solid Waste Authority at (419) 774-5861 or Kim Hildreth with the Earth Stewardship Steering Committee at (419) 755-9702.

The Richland County Solid Waste Authority will be holding an Earth Stewardship Special Collection on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P. M. at the Richland County Solid Waste Collection Facility located at 1125 National Parkway in Mansfield,  We will be collecting Smoke Alarms, Carbon Monoxide Detectors, Automotive Batteries, Rechargeable Power Tool Batteries, Fire Extinguishers, Empty Propane Tanks (All Sizes), Helium Tanks, Coleman Tanks and Mercury Fever Thermometers.  Richland County Solid Waste will give out one free digital Fever Thermometer per household (while supplies last) for the mercury thermometers collected.  I hope to see you on April 27th.

Richland County Solid Waste Authority will again be a collection center for the “National Prescription Drug Take Back Day” for the Mansfield Police Department on April 27, 2019 from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.

The Compost Facility located at 441 Cairns Road will open on March 21, 2019.  Information pertaining to hours of operation, fees and other pertinent information may be accessed by going to our website www.richlandrecycles.com (Residential>Compost>Yard Waste tab.

Remember, “Don’t Litter” and Reuse, Reduce and Recycle whenever possible.
