I hope the year 2018 has been kind and prosperous to all. The Richland County Solid Waste Authority has been very busy this entire year.
The Solid Waste Authority participated in a Special Prescription Drug Take Back collection on October 27th. There were 75 residents that dropped off prescription drugs at our 1125 National Parkway collection facility during this special collection. Richland County Solid Waste also conducted a Limited Household Hazardous Waste collection on October 28th. There were 47 vehicles that participated in this special collection. Thanks to all who participated in these successful collection events.
The Yard Waste Facility, located at 441 Cairns Road, closed for the season on November 29th and will re-open in the middle of March 2019. You may bring your cut live Christmas Trees to the front gate of the Yard Waste or to one of our 14 permanent Drop-Off Recycling locations from December 26th through January 15, 2019. Please remove all glitter and ornaments so that the trees may be ground into mulch.
The Solid Waste Authority’s Third grade Environmental Classroom classes have started and any Richland County school wishing to participated may call our Environmental Classroom Teacher, Lori Stone, at (419) 774-5861 in order to schedule a class.
Please remember to “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” as many items as possible.
I would like to wish all a safe Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year during this Holiday season.
