The S.C.R.A.P. Trailer (School Community Recycling As Partners) picks up recyclable materials at 20 local schools each month. Materials accepted include #1 and #2 plastic, aluminum cans, tin cans, newspaper and corrugated cardboard. Schools receive the money from the sale of recyclables.
Drop-off Recycling: The Authority offers 14 drop off recycling locations for the convenience of rural residents. Materials accepted include #1 and #2 plastic, newspaper, aluminum cans, tin cans and cardboard.
Electronics, Appliances and Household Collection Facility: The Authority accepts electronic items, appliances and additional household items at their facility on 1125 National Parkway in Mansfield. There is a charge for TV’s, Microwaves, Monitors, Compact Fluorescent Bulbs/Tubes and Freon containing appliances-all other items are accepted at no cost. Household Recyclables include: glass, books, office paper, magazines, cell phones, newspaper, #1 and #2 plastic, aluminum cans, tin cans and cardboard.
The Richland County Earth Stewardship Program is a partnership of local government and nonprofit organizations that annually announce that April and May are the months for an Earth Stewardship Celebration. This partnership joins together in order to form a program for Richland County residents to celebrate Earth Day, Arbor Day, Conservation Week and Planting Pride in the Mansfield/Richland County. The Earth Stewardship Celebration is an opportunity for residents, churches, nonprofit organizations, community organizations, schools, government agencies and businesses to renew their commitment to our community by conducting litter cleanups, beautification projects, tree plantings and recycling drives which moves us toward a sustainable community and environment.
Tire Collection: Tuesday thru Saturday 8:00 to 4:30 at 1125 National Parkway (CLOSED FOR LUNCH-12:00 TO 12:30). There is a charge to dispose of tires. Please call our office for more information at 419-774-5861. The number of tires you are allowed to bring at anytime is 10 (unless you’re a licensed tire hauler).
Battery and Ink-Jet Cartridge Recycling: The only batteries we accept are lithium, button cells and rechargeable batteries. Carbon Zinc and Alkaline batteries can be disposed of in your regular trash. We accept all inkjet cartridges at our facility free of charge.
Office Paper and Cardboard Route: The Authority operates an office paper and cardboard route for local businesses and schools. Individuals can recycle their cardboard and paper (newspaper, etc) an any of our Drop-off Recycling Locations listed here.
Compost Facility: Is opened from March through late November and is operated by the Authority. The compost facility is located on Cairns road. Hours of Operation are: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 8:00 to 4:30 (CLOSED FOR LUNCH-12:00 TO 12:30); Saturday 8:00 to 12:00 and Closed on Mondays and Holidays. We accept yard waste and sell leaf compost and mulch at our facility.
