NEWS FROM THE DIRECTOR

Spring is right around the corner and so is gardening.  The Compost Facility will open for the season on March 17th at 7 a.m. so be sure to come out and get compost and or mulch for your gardens and flower beds.  Leaf compost is available but usually goes fast when we open, so be sure to come out early if you need leaf compost.

The Earth Stewardship Steering Committee is pleased to announce the 24th Annual Earth Stewardship Celebration, which has been designated for April 1st through June 26th in Mansfield & Richland County.  The Earth Stewardship Celebration encourages residents to Plant Pride, Not Litter in Mansfield/Richland Countyand has witnessed over 50,000 volunteers giving of their time and energy in stewardship for our community and its natural resources over the past 23 years. Their contribution represents over 1.5 million dollars ($1,500,000) in volunteer hours, last year exceeding over $300,000 to our community. (This does not include the donated materials.)  Please join us in kicking off the 24th year at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at Richland Newhope Industries, located at 150 East Fourth Street, Mansfield, Ohio.    

Lastly, I want to welcome Crestview High School to the S.C.R.A.P. trailer program where we will be setting up March 19th from 9:30 a.m.  to 12:30 in the High School parking lot to collect recyclables (paper, plastic #1 & #2, cardboard, tin cans, aluminum cans, and newspapers).  All money made from the recyclables will go back to the Crestview School district so please come out and help support Crestview and do your part for the environment by recycling.  The SCRAP trailer will be at Crestview every third Wednesday of the month going forward.
